Three Material Assembly Group: An Example

We have experience with complex, multip-material assembly groups

Take a look at the below example: a ready-to-install assembly made from three distinct materials – ruby, brass, and stainless steel – expertly crafted and delivered fully assembled. This particular component is used as a cutting nozzle in high-pressure water jet cutting applications, where extreme precision and durability are critical.

Ruby material for exceptional hardness and wear resistance

The choice of ruby material ensures exceptional hardness and wear resistance. Ruby, which shares its crystalline structure with sapphire, gains its characteristic red hue through the inclusion of chromium atoms in the lattice. However, due to its brittleness, the ruby is cushioned within a brass housing to absorb shocks and protect against breakage. The main body of the assembly is made from corrosion-resistant chrome-nickel steel, ensuring strength and long service life. The bore diameter is manufactured to a tolerance of just ±0.005 mm to guarantee consistent and accurate flow. Ruby also offers outstanding resistance to chemical attack, making it ideal for demanding industrial environments.
